Some where to some where else : )

Some where to some where else : )
After a bit of a late start I hop out of the hammock and pack up my camp  : )   the road tends down hill at times steep down hill where I get up some good speed.

A few km into the days riding I turn off the some what busy S.H.5 on to tapapa Rd – this road by pass’s a dangerous for cycling piece of S. H. 5 as the highway runs through a patch of bush with a road side cafe in the middle – a number of years ago when I was with my family coming back from a motorcycle rally (my family used to go to many motorcycle rallys around nz ) we was stoped at the café when a motorcyclists was killed in a road accident right in front of us and there has been a number of other road accidents over the years on that piece of road

Tapapa road is sign posted as no exit but in fact links up with Harwoods Rd  - it’s a great road to ride on - narrow (about 1-1 ½ lanes wide – might be the reason for the old road gate at one end and the no exit sign) but with not much if any traffic - just 1 car slowy passing me when I was riding it  - the road drops then  runs at a lower level then the main highway though some farm land until it ends / meets up with Harwoods Rd (S.H.28)
Riding on S.H.28 to Selwyn where I turn off on to te poi south road to te poi before stopford Rd and old te aroha Rd – there is a number of old roads around that have been bypassed by the main roads so have limited if any traffic so are ideal for cycling – though many are still gravel or partly gravel roads

The road rolls over a few short but steep hills – riding with the odd rest/photos stop until I get to the turn off to wairere waterfall where after some thought I decided to take a bit of a side trip to the car park of the walking track that leads to the base of the water falls  - the car park was full (30 + cars) after looking at sign with walking times and some thought I decide that I won’t do the walk today – both from a time point of view and would be thief’s point of view
A number of years ago I spent 3 days tramping solo on some remote tracks from near the top of the road over the kaimais  (S.H.29) to wairere water fall – the plan was to go all the way to karagahake gorge (S.H.2) but because of rain I decide to  cut that tramp short And exit the bush at the water falls – there’s tracks from the carpark that lead to the top of the falls and deeper into the bush  - mostly used by hunters – perhaps one day I would like to redo that tramp (going the full distance) thought some of the tracks I used on that trip may not longer exist /be over grown so I I don’t know how possible such a trip would be now – some of them was in a poor state when I did the tramp

Back on the road after a short break I keep riding on different roads (old te aroha Rd, old te aroha – Gordon Rd) until I get into the town of te aroha where after a stop at the info center to full up on water  and a stop at a bakery for some food where I get chatting with a older man about different things before heading out of town partly on the cycle trail that runs along the route of the old rail way riding until I find a safe place to set up my tent for the night – doing a bit of reading before heading off to sleep for the night
